This Week In University Counselling: Grade 11

start of year-september 18

Appointments to see a university counsellor

To see one of the University Counsellors, you must make an appointment using our on-line booking system.

To book an appointment, you need to be logged into the Brentwood system through your school email account. Also, you must ensure that you have opened your Google Calendar at least once to ensure that the times between the two systems are in sync.

To access our on-line appointment system, click HERE to go to the correct page on the University Counselling website...

Although we shouldn’t have to tell you, do not make an appointment during a class—academic, arts or athletics—you cannot skip to attend a University Counselling appointment!

course changes

If you need to make changes to your courses, you may stop by University Counselling this week to see if one of us is free if it is a matter of a quick change.

You will be free to make changes up to September 16 without having to seek out any permissions.

After September 16, Course Changes are still possible, but...

Procedure for Signing-Up for University Presentations:

interested in applying to colleges in the united states?

We will be offering the PSAT to any Grade 11 students who might be interested in applying to colleges and universities in the United States in mid-October.

While the pandemic shifted many schools in the US to go Test-Optional, we still recommend that students consider the SAT as a part of their US college admission journey. The PSAT offers a great first step on that journey.

We will be offering a sign up to students soon, and test preparation materials will be available for pick-up in the University Counselling office starting next week. STAY TUNED!

Also, the SAT Prep Course will be returning after a pandemic hiatus. It will begin later this fall and run through the winter term in preparation for the March 2024 sitting of the SAT. More information will be coming out soon. STAY TUNED!

(See our TIMELINES page for more information on testing schedules and Brentwood's approach to US College Applications.)

"What's involved in this post-secondary planning process?"

Planning for your post-secondary life after Brentwood can be a confusing and intimidating process... that's why University Counselling is here to be with you every step of the way! For the process to go well, however, you and your parents have to be informed consumers! That means keeping up with information (here on this website), but also anticipating what's to come. How do you do that?

Take some time to review the Timelines section of this website. It will give you and your parents a broad view of what's involved at various stages through the process, now and into the future! Certainly, it will answer questions you have about the critical times that demand action from you!
