Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities.
To be considered for the Award, applicants must be:
In good academic standing.
Canadian citizens, landed immigrants, or Permanent Resident.
Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school
Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.
Terry Fox Award Recipients are eligible to receive the Award until they graduate with their first university degree or diploma (for a maximum of four years), provided they maintain satisfactory academic standing and a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.
The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years. A stipend of $7,000 is issued directly to the institution each year in two installments of $3,500, one in September and one in January.
How To Apply
Applications are submitted online and must be completed before the deadline of 11:59 pm PT on December 1st.
Applicants must provide three (3) referees and upload online an (un)official transcript detailing the applicant’s last two years of schooling (official transcripts, sealed by the issuing institution will be requested from applicants who are selected for an interview). Referees will be emailed a link requesting they complete an online Referee Form on behalf of the applicant.
The online application, including all the accompanying documents, must be completed and submitted online by the deadline – before midnight. Applications and all documentation (including Referee Forms and unofficial transcripts) received after that date will not be considered, nor will they be held over for the next year.

The Due Date for submitting a complete application for the TD Scholarship, which includes a letter of recommendation from the School, is November 15, thus students must submit a completed application for review by University Counselling by the DO DATE of October 15.

In addition, many universities have Major Scholarship programs. Each will have a different process for scholarships, so better to do your research now to ensure you know what exactly to do and when to submit!

For Canadians/Permanent Residents, there are limited scholarship opportunities at UBC:
Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program - For students who self-identify as Black (African, African-American, African-Canadian, Afro-Caribbean). You must apply to UBC and complete a UBC Entrance Award Application, both by December 1.
Presidential Scholars Awards - To be eligible, you must apply to UBC by December 1. No additional application is required.
UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards - For students with demonstrated Financial Need. You must apply to UBC and complete a UBC Entrance Award Application, both by December 1.
For International Students:
International Major Entrance Scholarships - Students are automatically considered for IMES through their application to UBC.
Outstanding International Student Award - Students are automatically considered for OIS awards through their application to UBC.
International Scholars - for international students who have demonstrated leadership qualities, exceptional contributions to their communities, have outstanding academic performance, and require meaningful financial support to attend UBC. The Application deadline is November 17.
Queen’s University’s major entrance scholarship is the Chancellor’s Scholarship. To apply for the Chancellor’s, you must be nominated by the school. The selection of our nominee is done through a competitive process: you need to complete and submit your application to us to determine who the nominee will be.
The deadline for the Chancellor’s Scholarship application is December 8, so students must submit a completed application for review by University Counselling in order for us to select the Chancellor nominee AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, and by November 21 at the latest.
(Note that to be able to access the online application for either, you have to ensure that your OUAC application is submitted by November 20.)
There are other Major Awards at Queen's that require an application to be submitted by December 1, but take note that all awards beyond the Chancellor's have Demonstrated Financial Need as an eligibility criterion.
The Wolf Scholars Program was established in 2025 to offer exceptional young Canadians the freedom to be curious with the confidence they will graduate as well-rounded citizens ready to drive positive systemic impact in the private and public sectors.
As one of sixteen incoming to U of T each year studying a range of disciplines, Scholars will tackle foundational topics with their cohort, gain valuable work experience at world-class organizations, travel, and develop leadership skills for life.

The National Scholarship rewards original, creative and committed Canadian secondary school students. These are students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. They excel in academic pursuits, demonstrate enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and have a strong involvement in the lives of their schools and communities. Each year approximately ten students are named National Scholars (winners) and ten are named Arbor Scholars (runners-up).
Eligibility Criteria:
an original and creative thinker committed to school and community
a high achiever in academic and creative pursuits
enthusiastic about learning and intellectual exploration
a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person currently in your final year of Canadian secondary school or first-year CEGEP intending to begin university the following academic year
a National Book Award nominee or self-identify as meeting the criteria above

Deadline to Apply: October 17
Value/Amount: The National Scholarship covers tuition, incidental and residence fees for up to four years of study. Finalists not designated as National Scholars receive Arbor Scholarships at a value of $7,500 in the first year and $1,500 per year for three additional years of undergraduate study. The scholarship is tenable only at the University of Toronto.

BC School Sports is pleased to provide over $20,000 in scholarships available to student-athletes this year.
BC School Sports Scholarships reward excellence in both scholastic and athletic pursuits. The successful applicants will be student-athletes who have balanced their high academic achievements with significant success as school athletes and contributions to their community.
Scholarships shall be awarded to students enrolled in member schools who apply, and who meet all of the criteria.
