Grade 11 students are already thinking about Grade 12 and courses for next year. As Re-Enrolment for next year is in full swing, we will be the process of working with students concerning their Course Selections for next year up and running very soon.
This all starts with a presentation to the Grade 11 class in your Advisor block this Monday, February 2. On that day, please proceed to the Foote instead of to your Advisor Meeting location, and be seated in Multi-Purpose Room 1 or 2 for a 9:55 am start:
MPR 1 = Mack/Ellis & Whittall/Alex
MPR 2 = Hope/Privett & Rogers/Allard
All of this will be working toward YOU DISCUSSING COURSE SELECTIONS WITH YOUR FAMILY AND COMPLETING YOUR SELECTIONS OVER THE COMING FEBRUARY MIDTERM!
Grade 11s who are looking ahead to applying to US colleges need to start thinking about elements of the process, in particular, their standardized testing plan... taking the SAT! As the Grade 11 Timeline shows, we recommend that students in Grade 11 take the SAT for the first time in March, and registration is open for that test.
The problem is this: The March 2026 SAT falls on the first Saturday of sping break, on March 14. The last day of classes before spring break is Thursday, March 12. Thus, students must either write elsewhere or find somewhere else (other than Brentwood) to stay if they want to remain to write the SAT at Brentwood.
It would be good for you to look at out US College Application Resources page to learn more about the process.
Planning for your post-secondary life after Brentwood can be a confusing and intimidating process... that's why University Counselling is here to be with you every step of the way! For the process to go well, however, you and your parents have to be informed consumers! That means keeping up with information (here on this website), but also anticipating what's to come. How do you do that?
Take some time to review the Timelines section of this website. It will give you and your parents a broad view of what's involved at various stages through the process, now and into the future! Certainly, it will answer questions you have about the critical times that demand action from you!
